Reflecting on this year’s results, I am reminded of Rick Hanlon’s talk at ReactConf 2021 where he shared React’s “Many Platforms” vision; one where React gets better on each platform by improving React on every platform. We’re seeing this trend across the React Native ecosystem — from web to native, from mobile to desktop, across a breadth of industry sectors, and across many developer backgrounds.
As the industry continues to blur the lines between web and native, I expect we’ll see a continued trend of using React Native in even more places beyond mobile — including further growth in established areas like desktop, and more nascent areas like VR. At Microsoft, we believe in this “many platforms” vision and use React Native to deliver high quality experiences across the breadth of our products (including on Xbox, Office, and even parts of the Windows OS) and we’re excited to see an increase in the number of apps who are also moving beyond mobile.
